Cinematic Part 3 - The Leading Lady ~ Bette Davis

  Ruth Elizabeth "Bette" Davis 

Born on April 5th 1908 - October 6, 1989

Bette Davis  thee American film actress of film, televison and the theatre. Known for her work in crime melodrama's to period films and romantic drama's.  The American Film Institute list her as the greatest female star of all time ( I would agree) she won the Academy Award twice for best actress and accrued over 10 Academy Awards nominations over her lifetime. Bette was also the first female president of the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. During World War 2  she was co- founder of the Hollywood Canteen, which helped to entertain all the service people across the country. I think something else that really stands out about her is she was a real actress, she loved her craft and respected it. Not always being the glamour girl or having to sometimes  look much older then what she really was, didn't bother her. She became the character always,  which sometimes made her disliked or misunderstood by others for  her honesty and forceful intensity. I really respect her courage and fire and always being true to herself . She was one smart cookie! It was such fun doing research on her. I think I love her even more now. Of course I've loved her movies and have always thought she was a real film treasure, but I now  have a better appreciation for all her hard work and hard knocks she went through.  To her knowledge, bravery and strength. Bette Davis what a lady!

Cinematic Part Two ~ The Sweet Bombshell, Marilyn Monroe ~

The sad orphan, war bride, model, ambitious contract movie actress and muse. The young industrious blond, who seemed to always get the same dumb, but sweet roles. She wanted to be more then just a pin up, something more serious. She started her own production company to try to have more thought provoking characters. You know what they say it's much harder to play stupid or funny then smart, which I think Marilyn was extremely bright and funny! What a comedian she was. What a wonderful sense of humor! She had so many different sides to her and had gone through so much in her life. I find her to be so childlike and fun, especially in these photographs, she's so interesting to look at, very playful and seductive at the same time. I love the more cute and silly photos of her rather then the many sexpot/vampy ones. I think that's truly who she was, a free spirit, friendly, open and beaming with feminine charm as well as being so beautiful. The Girl Next Door vs. The Bombshell - I think she had both!
